The stage at the Christmas market invites the children with a most diverting programme to watch or to participate. Besides Christmas music, children's dance groups and choirs, there are a number of activities which the children can join on the heated stage.

Within the scope of the Cologne crip way the extravagantly decorated and formed city crip is built up at the Christmas market in front of the Cologne Cathedral. The Cologne city cradle was initiated by the crip friends in 1997 and was put up first with the figures of the "holy family". Since then every year new figures were added, which was possible by private donations from enterprises. The noble bronze figures are formed in modern style by the artist Rosemarie Peter. The Christmas fair in the Cologne Cathedral is responsible for the composition and extravagantly formed natural landscapes.

Right next to the big city crib you find  the crib "house Schweidt" with life-sized figurines fondly decorated in a stall. With great commitment the association Haus Schweidt - Adelheidt Haus sets up the cradle at the Cologne Cathedral every year. In Haus Adelheidt minors and young pregnant women and mothers with their children stay together in various forms of living.
